Position Summary:Reporting to the Director of Perioperative Services, the Clinical (SurgiNet) Coordinator oversees all aspects of the Surgical Services charge capture function and charge reconciliation. Is responsible for ensuring all appropriate charges are captured to maximize revenue by identifying, analyzing, and reconciling charge errors or omissions through review of documentation. Works closely with the Department leadership to educate clinical staff on proper charting technique to reduce charge errors. Will assist the Charge Master Manager/Coordinator and other areas of revenue cycle to ensure effective and efficient charge capture processes. Works closely with Purchasing department to ensure charge master codes are added and entered correctly. Completes audits on a daily basis. Performs 100% reconciliation of all surgical services areas, using a variety of reports. Audits and reviews operative records daily for accurateness and completeness. Reviews operative records for charge errors and omissions through free text documentation. Ensures that all items that are charged are in the charge master system and follows through on items that are not within the system by communication to appropriate departments. Monitors and intervenes for wrong encounter record to ensure data integrity. Runs daily OR reports to assist clinical staff with error review, accuracy, education opportunities, and accountability. May enter implant record items into operative reports for charging. Initiates communication with appropriate person to resolve charge entry related issues. Collaborates with Nursing Informatics team and Perioperative Services Clinical Practice Specialist to create instructional materials for charge capture education/orientation/training of surgical staff. Informs OR staff and management of changes to charge entry and provides training as needed. Works with Surgery leadership to formulate plan for professional development. Attends educational in-services as appropriate. Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices and developments.
Minimum Qualifications:Perioperative clinical experience required.Surgical scrubbing experienced required.Associates/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education or relevant technical clinical training. Experience working with perioperative clinical information systems required.Preferred Qualifications:Some college work in Business Administration is desired.Special Skills:Ability to read, write and speak English.Ability to use spread sheets by sorting and filtering data as well as extraction of data from SurgiNet to Excel.Experience with Materials Management Information Systems, knowledge of medical and surgical supplies.Computer literacy, mainframe and PC systems, computer programs, programming, system implementation, computer interfacing, office practices and procedures, medical terminology, calculative thinking.
