About the Department of Quantitative Health Sciences, Jacksonville, Florida The Department of Quantitative Health Sciences in Florida is comprised of 8 faculty and 22 staff with diverse expertise. The department in Florida is part of a larger unit that includes faculty and staff based in Phoenix, Arizona and Rochester, Minnesota.  This position is expected to be housed in the department’s Division of Clinical Trials & Biostatistics, a robust division that contributes to research areas spanning from basic science to translational research, clinical trials, population health, and data science. Division staff are scientific leaders and collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams within and outside of Mayo Clinic. The department’s unique collaboration model emphasizes the importance of disease area knowledge in the design and analysis of research studies by integrating a dedicated statistical team into research groups. Faculty members develop, maintain, and promote state-of-the-art designs and analytical methods expertise and lead multiple initiatives surrounding study designs, data acquisition, data management, analyses, and interpretation of research studies.  Why Mayo Clinic? Position description
The Department of Quantitative Health Sciences is seeking to hire an outstanding faculty member with a record of, or the strong potential for, achievement and demonstrated ability for successful collaborations to serve as the lead biostatistician for the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center – Jacksonville and other research programs in the space of neurodegeneration. The candidate should have the ability to assimilate relevant information and initiate new areas of research particularly in the domains of a) complex longitudinal data that may include or be applied to neuroimaging and cognitive measures and b) novel therapeutic clinical trials in vulnerable populations. Translational efforts may extend beyond human studies to engage with discovery science laboratories where there will be a required willingness to consult on the design of animal studies. Discovery science labs also include a strong genetic focus, which would require interactions by the candidate with bioinformatics to support development and evaluation of genetics projects. Interest in digital technologies to expand and enrich participant inclusion and deep phenotyping in neurodegenerative diseases will be favorably considered. Further, there should be a willingness and appreciation to pursue machine learning approaches with potential interactions with the Neurology AI Program (NAIP). The candidate should have documented experience working with a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and clinicians; clear history of leadership skills with the ability to give scientific direction to a team of support staff; and demonstrate flexibility, creativity and excellent communication skills to build and expand research within their working environment. Early career individuals that show strong potential to achieve these attributes will be fully considered.
