Position description
During the selection process you may participate in an OnDemand (pre-recorded) interview that you can complete at your convenience. During the OnDemand interview, a question will appear on your screen, and you will have time to consider each question before responding. You will have the opportunity to re-record your answer to each question – Mayo Clinic will only see the final recording. The complete interview will be reviewed by a Mayo Clinic staff member and you will be notified of next steps.

This position will primarily support liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS, HRAM, TOF) projects in the Clinical Mass Spec Lab, Clinical Forensic Toxicology Lab, and Protein Immunology Lab. These laboratories perform routine clinical tests for a plethora of analytes, such as steroids, metabolites, drugs of abuse, therapeutic drugs, peptides, and intact proteins. The individual will develop, evaluate, and implement new tests, methodologies, or products for the laboratory under the intellectual and scientific guidance of laboratory directors and development coordinator. Assumes responsibility for improvement of existing methods or implementation of new technology of proven validity. Maintains complete and accurate documentation of data generated and work performed. Helps in organizing new method validation data, preparation of data for publication and peer review, and participates in formal presentations. Aids in the investigation, installation, evaluation, and purchase of laboratory equipment, instrumentation, computer software and hardware, new reagent systems, and other specialty items. Participates in the training of laboratory staff, residents, and students in principles of methods and applications within the laboratory. Assists and mentors other development technologists when needed in the performance of their duties.

*Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in the role before being eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic*

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in clinical/medical laboratory science (CLS/MLS), medical technology (MT), chemistry, biological science from an accredited institution or bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in addition to a certificate in MLS. In histopathology or non-testing laboratories, bachelor’s degree with laboratory certification if applicable. Four years of relevant laboratory experience; or a Master’s degree from an accredited institution in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science or medical technology and two years of relevant laboratory experience. A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree. Other clinical laboratory specialty certificates will be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis.

**This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program**

Additional qualifications
Self-motivated, highly organized, efficient, and able to work independently exercising strong decision-making skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Capable of creating a method using reference material and adapting existing knowledge and procedures to develop novel methods or products. Demonstrated analytical and scientific competency with development and/or validation of lab techniques or procedures is required.’Expertise in designing and/or performing LC-MSMS diagnostic testsExperience in validating clinical diagnostic testsExcellent troubleshooting skills with an ability to critically assess complex problemsAttention to detail, organized, and excellent documentation skillsAptitude for scientific writing and ability to communicate effectively Team-oriented and open to the ideas and suggestions from others to solve complex issues
