Position description
During the selection process you may participate in an OnDemand (pre-recorded) interview that you can complete at your convenience. During the OnDemand interview, a question will appear on your screen, and you will have time to consider each question before responding. You will have the opportunity to re-record your answer to each question – Mayo Clinic will only see the final recording. The complete interview will be reviewed by a Mayo Clinic staff member and you will be notified of next steps.
This position will primarily support liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS, HRAM, TOF) projects in the Clinical Mass Spec Lab, Clinical Forensic Toxicology Lab, and Protein Immunology Lab. These laboratories perform routine clinical tests for a plethora of analytes, such as steroids, metabolites, drugs of abuse, therapeutic drugs, peptides, and intact proteins. The developer innovates, evaluates, and implements novel/new tests, methodologies, technologies, or products for the laboratory under the intellectual and scientific guidance of laboratory directors and senior developers. Responsible for improvement of existing methods or implementation of novel technology of proven validity within the work unit. Organizes new method validation data, prepares data for publication and peer review, and participates in formal presentations.
*Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in the role before being eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic*
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science (CLS/MLS), medical technology (MT), chemistry, biological science from an accredited institution, or bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in addition to a certificate in MLS. In histopathology or non-testing laboratories, a bachelor’s degree with laboratory certification if applicable. Two years’ relevant laboratory experience required. A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree. Other clinical laboratory specialty certificates will be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis.
**This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program**
Additional qualifications
Master’s degree from an accredited institution in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science or medical technology or Doctoral degree (PhD) in chemistry or a biological science preferred. Self motivated, highly organized, efficient, and able to work independently exercising strong decision-making skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary. Capable of reproducing a reference method using available procedures without supervision. Demonstrated analytical and scientific competency with development and/or validation of lab techniques or procedures. Experience with data collection, organization, analysis and delivery of information.Expertise in designing and/or performing LC-MSMS diagnostic testsExperience in validating clinical diagnostic testsExcellent troubleshooting skills with an ability to critically assess complex problemsAttention to detail, organized, and excellent documentation skillsAptitude for scientific writing and ability to communicate effectively Team-oriented and open to the ideas and suggestions from others to solve complex issues
