The Mayo Clinic Special Purpose Processor Development Group (SPPDG) is an R&D team dedicated to the development of next generation electronics and optics technologies for high-speed signal processing applications, in particular for, though not limited to, high clock rate digital signal processors and wide bandwidth, high center frequency analog systems. The SPPDG is equipped with a full suite of CAD and simulation tools, and clean rooms and equipment for micromachining, and assembling and testing of microelectronics.

Performs increasingly complex microelectronic engineering functions in the areas of Hardware, Firmware, or Software Engineering which may include theoretical development, conceptualization, design, implementation, simulation, software, assembly, test or analysis. Understands overall goals of project to which assigned and helps execute tasks to support those goals. Able to organize and prioritize effort and resources across multiple project assignments. Initiates design reviews of own work and participates in reviews for others. Analyzes output data, documents and reports results, including generating technical summaries and presentations for internal or sponsor audiences. Performs limited travel.
Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and minimum of 4 years of engineering experience. Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a Secret clearance and adhere to security requirements as described in the NISPOM.
The successful candidate is expected to have experience developing and implementing real-time signal processing algorithms on traditional 32-bit deeply embedded micro-controllers and novel multiprocessing inference processors. This experience should include familiarity with the following:Linear time-invariant signal processing, including but not limited to filtering, static and adaptive, time and frequency processing, control, and spectral analysisNon-linear filtering and methodsExperience with PCA analysis and other high-dimensional methodsMachine learning–regression, deep learning, classificationEmbedded real-time C/C++ programming and debuggingMulti-processor programming and cache coherencyGit revision controlSoftware tool development, including the support of existing applicationsThe successful candidate must also be able to communicate and document status, plans and results in a clear and concise manner, using appropriate tools and formats which are matched to the audience.
Preferred qualifications include an MS or PhD in electrical engineering or a related field.
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $3,885.60, based on a full-time position.
Hours / Pay period
Monday-Friday; Work schedule of 9 hours per day, 9 weekdays per two week pay period.
