Position description
The Registration Representative-Lead may be responsible for the accurate check-in and/or admissions of incoming patients in the clinical or hospital setting, as well the Emergency Department and/or Urgent Care setting. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the verification of patient demographic information, collection of insurance data, the identification and/or creation of appropriate accounts, and the collection of indicated co-payments, preservice deposits as indicated, and/or share of cost as appropriate. This role is subject to long periods of physical requirements including but not limited to standing, walking, and the ability to push and/or pull mobile computer carts for patient Registration purposes. The role also requires the ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting, and the ability to work within established procedures and guidelines, taking initiative to problem solve; balanced with knowing when to escalate issues to Leadership. The role requires adherence to quality assurance guidelines as well as established productivity standards to support the work unit’s performance expectations. The Registration Representative-Lead may follow a variety of registration workflows, including work in Epic work queues; may manage phone calls and/or online requests as needed. Staff will navigate and assist patients through multiple electronic applications, devices and other medical equipment like iPad/tablets and registration Kiosks. The Registration Representative-Lead is required to ensure patient safety using positive patient identification protocols and is expected to obtain the appropriate consents as required. Accuracy and thoroughness in all patient related activities including electronic communication is critical. The role requires flexibility which may include cross coverage and travel depending on location. The Registration Representative-Lead may provide support to the Financial Counselors as needed.

High School Diploma or GED and 3 or more years of relevant experience required
Bachelor’s degree required.

Ability to read and communicate effectively. Basic computer/keyboarding skills, intermediate mathematic competency. Good written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of proper phone etiquette and phone handling skills.

Additional qualifications
Position requires advanced level communication skills. Prior desk, appointment, or secretarial experience and a working knowledge of scheduling systems and procedures are preferred. Incumbents must have the ability to interact on a professional level with individuals from diverse backgrounds and maintain working knowledge of systems and processes related to patient registration and scheduling activities. Experience using an Epic RC/EMR system is preferred. Experience providing coaching and feedback to frontline staff preferred.

Monday through Friday Lead position on the evening shift which will require occasional overnights, holidays and weekends as a business need.
