Position description
A Special Project Associate at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to execute experimental studies in support of lab goals and grant commitments as designated by the Principal Investigator. Performs basic statistical data analysis; prepares tables, charts/graphs and assists in organizing data; completes assorted laboratory procedures and assays. Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars, Research Scholars, Professors, Specialists, and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic.

Qualifications
Bachelor degree required and experience required in lab project or research work in an educational or work setting. Candidate must have a solid understanding of lab techniques, equipment, and safety.
Additional qualifications
The individual will support ongoing research projects related to PINK1-PRKN mitophagy. Specific tasks and objectives include support of cell culture, gene-editing, and mouse tissue analyses using a variety of molecular, cellular, biochemical, and imaging techniques and the execution of informative research experiments that test a proposed hypothesis. Under direct mentorship of a lab supervisor the individual will receive personalized hands-on training in order to develop the necessary technical skills to perform a wide range of research techniques with accuracy and repeatability. The individual will further be trained to design experiments, set up experimental conditions as well as to analyze, graph, interpret and discuss outcomes. The individual is expected to thoroughly document the experimental conditions, goals and results and to further skills to interact and work collaboratively as part of a team of laboratory researchers. Effective written and oral communication skills are required. Continuous 360 degree evaluation will help achieve training and career goals.
