Position description
Under direction and general supervision of the Operations Supervisor and may also receive direction from the Deputy Airport Director/Operations Director. Works cooperatively with a variety of other personnel, customers and tenants within the Airport. May have contact with persons outside of the Airport as job duties dictate. As a representative of the Rochester Airport Company, conducts all activities in a courteous and professional manner.
Ability to work independently, or in coordination with other Operations Department Staff and prioritize duties; Responds to emergency and non-emergency incidents involving aircraft operating at Rochester International Airport; Performs those duties required for the maintenance/repair of the Airport’s facilities and equipment; Operates a radio for communication with the control tower and safely operates a variety of equipment on the airfield including heavy snow removal equipment; Carries and operates a two-way company radio for company communications; Performs snow and ice removal duties with the ability to make independent decisions when necessary; Drives aircraft rescue and firefighting equipment and operates fire extinguishment equipment; Operates a wide variety of equipment to include but not limited to mowers, tractors, aircraft rescue/firefighting equipment, heavy trucks, heavy brooms, front loaders, and other snow removal equipment; Participates in regular aircraft rescue and firefighting training as required and responds to simulated and actual emergencies.
Performs duties and training associated with the compliance requirements of FAR Part 139 to include the issuing of Notices to Airman (NOTAMs), Field Condition Reports (Ficons), airfield safety and inspection requirements; Performs duties and training associated with TSA Part 1542 to include Airport Badging, TSA Enrollment and other security related duties. (On-the-job training for airport/airfield duties provided.)
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Building Utility Maintenance or specialized degree (i.e., plumbing, electrical, heavy equipment, etc) preferred.
Firefighter experience helpful.
License or certification
Valid Minnesota Class “D” driver’s license at the time of hire, prefer a Class “B” license.
Not required, but would prefer 2-C boiler license or higher.
(TSA) Transportation Security Administration required background check.

11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.; 3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.; 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Employees typically start working 11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. and rotate to other shifts based on seniority. (shift differential is available for evening & night shifts)
Initially work day shift during training (approx. 2 months).
Work rotating shifts, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
Weekend schedule
As required based on department needs.
