Position description
Mayo Center for Safe and Healthy Children and Adolescents is a facility based, child focused program in which representatives from many disciplines (including law enforcement, child protection, victim advocates, prosecution, mental health and medical providers) work together to ensure the highest level of care to victims of child abuse and their families. Mayo Center for Safe and Healthy Children and Adolescents has now been in operation for over ten years and the requests for forensic interviews for both Olmsted County and the surrounding region have continued to grow every year. Having a highly trained forensic interviewer with extensive hours of completed interviews on staff at the Center will provide a consistent high quality interview. It will also help with access for victims not only from our county but surrounding counties that do not have a Children’s Advocacy Center. The forensic interviewer would be able to conduct child developmentally sound interviews to ensure the highest level of quality. The forensic interviewer would also be able to provide interviews for vulnerable adults as well as witnesses to a violent crime. The forensic interviewer would participate in multidisciplinary meetings and peer case review. The forensic interviewer would be expected to attend any pertinent advanced forensic interview trainings to stay up with the latest best practices. The forensic interviewer would also assist with child abuse prevention education. This position would also require public speaking.

Qualifications
Requires a minimum of an Associate degree in Law enforcement, Human Services or a related field. Preferably a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two to three years of Child Protection experience.

Certification of Completion of Forensic Interview Training from an evidence-based protocol.

Background check required every 5 years.

Additional qualifications
Experienced in conducting forensic interviews with children and adults. Strong oral communication skills. Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams. Must maintain a proactive interest and focus on issues related to child advocacy and up-to-date research and methods of forensic interviewing. Comfortable with public speaking. Additional training and certifications as required for Center accreditation.

License or certification
Certification of Completion of Forensic Interview Training from an evidence-based protocol.

Schedule varies based on center needs. Center hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00-5:00pm.
