Position description
Location: Baldwin Procedure, GYN and Ortho Clinic, Primary Care Rochester

Patient Care Type: The Procedure Clinic is available for Primary Care Rochester patients (Family Medicine, Community Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine and Primary Care Internal Medicine). The Procedure Clinic on Baldwin 4 has six procedure rooms, staffed by three proceduralists and four procedure nurses. The Ortho Clinic on Baldwin 1 has three rooms, staffed by three physician assistants and two procedure nurses.

The clinics perform a wide variety of procedures, including the following: aspiration/injections, skin biopsy, laceration repair, incision and drainage, vasectomies and circumcisions. In addition to pre-scheduled slots, the clinic has daily acute slots for same-day scheduling.

Nursing Team Roles: Primary LPN responsibilities include rooming, assisting with procedures and reinforcing discharge instructions. The LPNs work at a fast pace, are self-driven and have great team work.

The licensed practical nurse (LPN) provides nursing care to assigned patients under the direct supervision of the registered nurse (RN) or other assigned supervisor and accepts delegation from the RN/assigned supervisor in meeting the needs of the patient/family. The LPN collects data through observation and communicates information to assist the RN and/or provider in patient assessment and care planning. The LPN participates as a member of the health care team and accepts delegation from the RN/assigned supervisor and provider in meeting needs of the patient/family. The LPN delivers care in accordance with the patient care plan, policies and procedures of the organization and principles of relationship-based care. The LPN possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and instructing; and may participate on committees or projects, including quality improvement projects.

Qualifications
Graduate of a school of practical nursing or passed LPN Boards after a defined period in a professional nursing program (e.g., some states allow RN students to take the LPN board exam after completing one to two years in the RN program). If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of LPN experience working in an applicable setting is required.

Additional qualifications
1 year of LPN experience within the past 3 years preferred. Ambulatory experience preferred. Procedural experience preferred. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Experience working in a team environment. Strong keyboarding and computer application skills required, prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred. Ability to work flexible hours. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting. Demonstrated leadership, effective communicator, and excellent critical thinking skills.

License or certification
Current LPN license by applicable state requirements.

Midwest: Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $20.69 per hour.
